Pastor David Duncan

In the Summer of 2021, I became Pastor of Woodlawn Baptist Church. My journey to Woodlawn was not a typical path…as one might expect.

During my high school years, I felt the call to vocational ministry. After graduating from high school in Virginia Beach, VA, I enrolled at Old Dominion University and earned a BS degree in Business Administration. Later, I pursued and earned an MBA from ODU.

Throughout the years, I have worked for a number of different companies, even as a North Carolina Career and Technical Education instructor at a public high school. Most recently, I served as pastor of a Southern Baptist Church in North Carolina.

In 2001, I met Natalie in Virginia Beach. Oh, what a blessing that was. Three years later, we were married and lived in Ahoskie, NC. Shortly after we were married, I enrolled in Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in pursuit of my Master of Divinity. Through a series of events, studies at SBTS were placed on hold and I began working at Hertford County High School as a Career and Technical Education instructor. In the Fall of 2012, I enrolled in Liberty University Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated in May of 2016 with a Master of Divinity.

Natalie graduated from Virginia Wesleyan University, Virginia Beach, VA, with a BA in Music. She also attended Old Dominion University for teacher certification courses. Natalie has since earned her M.Ed. at Regent University. She has worked in a number of public schools in North Carolina. She currently is an Academically Gifted/Talented specialist in Danville Public Schools where she will be teaching sixth grade AG Math at Westwood Middle School.

We are blessed with four amazing children, Franklin “Trey” (13), Will (9), Annaleigh (7), and Nate (almost 2).

With all of life’s experiences and journeys, the Lord has blessed us in a mighty and powerful way by leading us to Woodlawn. May we continue to honor and serve HIM and be disciples for HIS kingdom.

My favorite verses: Ezekiel 33:7-9; John 14:6; John 2:1-11

Natalie’s favorite verses: 2 Peter 1:3, 4; Galatians 5:22, 23; Phil 4:6-9; Jeremiah 29:11

What We Believe

Baptist churches, associations, and general bodies have adopted confessions of faith as a witness to the world, and as instruments of doctrinal accountability. We are not embarrassed to state before the world that these are doctrines we hold precious and as essential to the Baptist tradition of faith and practice. Our beliefs are summarized in the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.
